A utopian construction: a possible future in the globalized world-system

Abstract

If utopia revolves around the idea of ??a world government capable of solving problems of a complex nature that cross national borders, it is more reasonable that the imagined government is that of a Confederate State that respects the claims of its own identity, because there is a problem of legitimacy that precedes the legal construction. Although utopian thought is more interested in imagining possibilities than in formulating concrete ends, it expresses the tension between the current situation and the hope that drives historical changes.
